IXR Nexus Pilot • National Learning Visibility Grant

You can't improve what you can't see.

Schools measure assignments, grades, and test scores.

These show what students produce but reveal far less about how students approached the learning itself.

Most AI tools generate answers.
IXR Nexus reveals how learning happens.
The National Learning Visibility Grant supports schools participating in the Raise the Bar Learning Visibility Initiative, a national pilot exploring how observable learning behaviors can be surfaced alongside everyday classroom assignments.

One teacher. Six to eight weeks. No change to curriculum.

Why Learning Visibility Matters Now

Schools have long relied on assignments, grades, and test scores to understand student progress.

These signals show what students produce.

They reveal far less about how students approached the learning itself.

Artificial intelligence has accelerated this challenge.

Students can now generate polished answers quickly using AI tools.

As a result, finished assignments increasingly reflect output quality, not always the learning process behind it.

Schools need earlier signals that help educators understand how learning is unfolding while it is happening.

IXR Nexus

Learning visibility inside the assignments teachers already use

IXR Nexus works inside the assignments teachers already give.

Teachers continue using their existing LMS and curriculum.

Students complete their work as usual.
The difference is that Nexus surfaces observable learning signals from that work.

Examples include:
Strategy Signals
How students approach problems and adjust their strategies.
Reflection Signals
Moments when students articulate what they understood or reconsider.
Concept Revision
Where students refine or correct their understanding.
Learning Relevance
Connections students make between academic ideas and real-world contexts.
Growth Patterns
Trends in how learning behaviors evolve across assignments.
How students question, critique, or refine AI-generated information.
How students question, critique, or build on AI generated information.

A learning system

Raise the Bar for Learning Visibility

The Raise the Bar Learning Visibility Initiative is a national pilot exploring how schools can make learning behaviors visible alongside traditional academic measures.

Participating schools help inform a national understanding of how students approach learning — including strategy use, reflection, conceptual revision, and responsible interaction with AI-supported tools.

Insights from participating schools contribute to the National Raise the Bar Learning Visibility Report.

What Schools Are Facing

School leaders are navigating overlapping pressures while trying to maintain instructional focus.

Academic recovery remains unfinished

Many students continue to carry learning gaps while schools work to maintain forward progress.

Teachers and staff are stretched thin

Schools face staffing shortages and increasing instructional demands.

Principals have limited learning visibility

Most signals available to schools appear after learning has already happened.

AI changed what assignments show

Students can now generate polished responses quickly using AI tools, making it harder to see the learning process behind finished work.

What Participating Schools Receive

Participating schools receive:
Integration with Canvas or compatible LMS systems
Teacher onboarding session
Ongoing professional learning and implementation support
Learning visibility dashboards for teachers and school leaders
Access to IXR Nexus during the pilot period
Participation in the Raise the Bar national initiative report
Professional Learning

Implementation Built on Teacher Voice

Participating teachers receive onboarding and ongoing professional learning during the pilot.

Teachers may also share classroom observations about how learning visibility appears within their assignments.

These observations help inform the Raise the Bar Learning Visibility Initiative and the national report that follows.

Student Data and Privacy

IXR Nexus surfaces observable learning signals within academic assignments.

The system does not analyze emotional states, mental health indicators, personality traits, or personal student narratives.

Student data remains under the control of the participating school or district and is handled in accordance with applicable student data privacy policies, including FERPA.

Insights generated through the Raise the Bar Learning Visibility Initiative are shared only in aggregated form unless a school provides written permission for identification.
